I shamefully didn't call my mom yesterday. It was a lazy Sunday - like any other. We didn't do anything but watch movies. Brandi came over and brought me a card. Noah was with his mom until the evening.
To My Mom:
I know we didn't always see eye to eye and we seemed to disagree about things quite a bit. Standing firm is something I learned from you and dad. And now dealing with an 18 year old at home, things are much more clear as to why you did things the way you did. I hear you in my voice when I talk to the kids - sometimes good, sometimes with me remembering saying "I'll never do that to MY kids," lol.
Thank you for being there for me when I need you, for supporting me and letting me make my own mistakes and learn my own lessons. I see now how tough it was for you to let me go and forge ahead, when you may have known in your heart I was making a mistake, yet you couldn't tell me no. Thank you for letting me be independent but letting me know you are there to catch me if I fall. I've learned a lot and you'd be surprised that I really was listening.
Things still are tough from time to time and being stubborn doesn't help, but I love you and I'm proud to say you are my mom.
